Head of Design

Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of architectural and interior design projects from initial client pitching, concept creation, and spatial planning through to detailed technical documentation, value engineering, and site execution oversight. Lead a multidisciplinary team of interior designers, architects, 3D visualizers, and technical architects, collaborating closely with project managers, procurement, and site construction teams to deliver outstanding turnkey projects on time and within budget.

Responsibililties

• Shape the vision and narrative for all design projects, translating intricate client briefs into inspiring, functional, and market-leading architectural solutions
• Spearhead the creation of department-wide design frameworks, embedding modern trends in sustainable, smart, and cost-efficient building practices tailored to the Myanmar landscape
• Collaborate closely with executive management and sales teams during early-stage client pitches, defining value propositions and design differentiators
• Inspire, guide, and develop a multidisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, and draftspersons within a high-performance culture
• Oversee resource allocation, staffing capacity, and scheduling to ensure simultaneous project milestones are met without compromising quality
• Drive regular technical assessments, skill-building sessions, and structured feedback loops across the department
• Own the master program for all design phases, maintaining rigorous tracking of deliverable milestones and design packages
• Drive comparative design studies, spatial analyses, and alternative material explorations to optimize cost and quality
• Appoint, direct, and coordinate specialized external and internal consultants (MEP, Structural, Landscape) to guarantee seamless technical integration
• Enforce strict review and sign-off protocols for all design submittals prior to client presentation or site release
• Partner with commercial teams on project budgeting, forecasting, and constructability reviews to protect profit margins
• Navigate local government and municipal authority approval processes, ensuring adherence to national building codes and zoning laws
• Provide hands-on technical support during the construction phase, managing RFIs and conducting site audits to verify work matches approved drawings
• Audit existing design documentation and administrative processes, introducing digital or systemic enhancements to eliminate bottlenecks
• Proactively identify and mitigate design-related commercial, structural, and legal risks across active projects
• Execute strategic directives and special tasks delegated by top management or the Managing Director

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
• Minimum 15 years of progressive design experience within an architecture/interior design firm
• At least 3–5 years in a managerial or senior leadership capacity
• Demonstrated portfolio of successfully completed commercial and high-end residential turnkey projects
• Mastery of industry-standard software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit/BIM, 3ds Max / V-Ray / Enscape / Corona, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office/Project
• Deep understanding of construction methods, joinery detailing, MEP coordination, building codes, acoustics, lighting design, and material durability
• Solid understanding of BOQ preparation, material costing, value engineering, and project scheduling
• Exceptional presentation, client management, team mentorship, and inter-departmental collaboration skills
• Fluent in English (both written and verbal) required for international client and vendor interactions
