General Manager (Sales)

Job Description:

Position Summary

Responsible for driving national sales growth, expanding market share, and leading the strategic business operations of the organization. Focusing heavily on the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors, the GM will oversee the execution of national sales targets, optimize commercial expenditures, ensure compliance with ISO quality standards, and spearhead key commercial initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and drive the sales team to consistently achieve monthly average sales targets and national sales objectives, ensuring an absolute minimum of 70% sales target achievement
  • Spearhead strategic plans to expand market share and drive volume/quantity-based sales growth across regional and national territories
  • Track competitor activities, survey consumer needs, and recommend new product lines, packaging improvements, or service updates to capitalize on market opportunities
  • Establish national sales financial objectives by preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing financial variances, and implementing timely corrective actions
  • Actively reduce trade marketing expenses and minimize overall selling costs and sales-related expenditures without compromising sales growth and performance
  • Strategically acquire new credit customers, establish new sales outlets, and expand the yearly credit customer base while reactivating inactive accounts
  • Build, manage, and maintain strong professional rapport with key customers, corporate clients, and external stakeholders
  • Manage the preparation of the yearly customer satisfaction survey, evaluate customer service delivery levels, and implement necessary action plans based on findings
  • Cooperate closely with the QMS team to prepare required corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) recommended by internal and ISO auditors, ensuring the maintenance of designated ISO quality standards within strict timelines
  • Lead, supervise, and secure maximum efficiency and success rates in tender submissions, adhering closely to respective government department guidelines and regulations
  • Supervise and leverage digital systems, including the Mobile Banking System and the Palmtop Project, to optimize sales operations and reporting
  • Coordinate product delivery timelines with the supply chain and factory operations to ensure seamless market fulfillment
  • Develop, plan, and deliver professional capacity-building training programs for the sales team and other associated departments
  • Prepare and submit highly accurate sales performance metrics, business analytics, and periodic management reports in a timely manner
  • Execute any other business-related responsibilities and special projects assigned by executive management from time to time

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is required. An internationally recognized Master of Business Administration (MBA) is highly preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive management experience in the sales field, with proven success in a National Sales Manager or equivalent senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of managing, motivating, and developing high-performance sales teams to achieve organizational targets
  • In-depth technical and domain knowledge of Pharmaceutical Products and/or Medical Devices, including regional and national market structures
  • High-level competency in interpreting competitor landscapes and analyzing sales performance metrics to make data-driven decisions
  • Strong understanding of tender procedures, government bidding systems, and respective regulatory rules and guidelines
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with Mobile Banking Systems, Palmtop Projects, and sales/operational tracking software
  • Masterful territory management skills to execute targeted sales campaigns across different geographical zones
  • Exceptional ability to build and sustain healthy, long-term relationships with customers, corporate clients, and key government departments
  • Outstanding negotiation skills with a solid customer service attitude to secure high-value commercial terms
  • Sharp analytical thinking with a proactive problem-solving attitude to handle complex business roadblocks
  • Proven ability to work productively under extreme pressure and push teams dynamically to achieve challenging commercial results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills paired with strategic planning and forecasting abilities
