Trade Sales Manager

Job Description:

Position Summary

Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing effective distribution strategies across on-trade, off-trade, and emerging channels. Ensure profitable growth, increased market penetration, and improved customer service through best-in-class execution and partner alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a scalable and profitable strategy tailored to national and regional market dynamics
  • Evaluate and recommend the optimal mix of distributors, wholesalers, and direct-to-retail models
  • Integrate traditional and modern trade channels with digital and e-commerce opportunities
  • Optimize geographical coverage, outlet reach, and retail execution standards
  • Translate commercial objectives into actionable plans by channel and region
  • Drive pricing strategy, trade promotions, incentives, and outlet-level activation
  • Support sales forecasting, inventory planning, and logistical coordination with supply chain
  • Track competitor activities, consumer preferences, and regulatory changes impacting trade
  • Implement sales KPIs and dashboards to enable data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with brand, trade marketing, sales, and finance teams to align execution plans
  • Guide cross-functional teams during market launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience in FMCG or beverage alcohol industry, with at least 3 years in trade sales or distribution role
  • Strong understanding of alcohol distribution regulations and channel dynamics
  • Must include hands-on experience in sales, distribution, trade marketing, or commercial operations
  • Ability to define channel segmentation, priority, and performance metrics
  • Proven expertise in distributor management and sales operations
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work under pressure, and drive results in complex markets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to structure trade margins, pricing models, and promotional spends
