Power Specialist

Job Description:
Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring reliable and efficient power infrastructure across telecom tower sites. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance of power systems such as Diesel Generators (DGs), Battery Banks (LIB/VRLA), Hybrid Power Solutions, Solar Systems, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and Power Distribution Units (PDUs). The role is critical in minimizing site downtime and ensuring uninterrupted network operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of DGs, batteries, and hybrid systems
- Monitor and ensure optimal functioning of power systems at telecom sites
- Maintain accurate logs for fuel consumption, DG run hours, and power equipment performance
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for fuel filling, maintenance, and spare parts
- Conduct load analysis and power audits at telecom sites
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations
- Provide technical support during emergency power failures and site restoration activities
- Collaborate with the NOC and O&M teams to ensure uptime KPIs are met
- Assist in planning and execution of power upgrades or infrastructure changes
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in EP, EC, MP Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in power systems, preferably in telecom infrastructure
- Strong understanding of DGs, ATS, solar systems, battery technologies, and power management
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Willingness to travel and work in field environments, including remote and conflict-prone areas
- Experience with remote monitoring systems (RMS for power infra)
- Knowledge of fuel optimization and theft prevention strategies
- Familiarity with telecom regulatory requirements
