Gender Equality and Inclusion Specialist

Job Description:

Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that all program activities and initiatives align with the organization’s gender transformative policies and approach and prioritize the meaningful inclusion of girls, women, people with disabilities and ethnic minorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide state-of-the-art guidance in the gender-informed design, development and implementation of activities that lead to gender-transformative change
  • Design gender-sensitive activities in conjunction with ministries, businesses, and community role models, leaders
  • Ensure that all teaching and learning materials reflect gender transformative and inclusion principles
  • Train and advise program and partner staffs in gender transformative programming and best practices in inclusion
  • Incorporate plans and activities to implement a core resource package for gender in education
  • Conduct the program staff and partners’ capacity strengthening activities as identified in Annual Workplan process with the gender focal points and build capacity on gender and inclusion
  • Monitor the implementation of a gender-transformative programming: review and provide inputs on the formulation of work plans, budgets, monitoring and evaluation mechanism
  • Guide the reporting and review documents to ensure gender equality and empowerment of women and girls is strongly reflected
  • Support project staff and partners in their collaboration and engagement with local women organisations
  • Contribute as relevant to knowledge networks and communities of practice on gender equality
  • Participate/monitor participation in partnership with the UN Agencies, donors, government institutions, and civil society in the promotion of gender equality
  • Contribute to the overall consortiums efforts for resource mobilization

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Gender Equality, Women Studies, Social Science or related field focus on gender issues, especially in Myanmar
  • Up to 7 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in the areas of gender mainstreaming and women and girls’ empowerment, ideally within the education context
  • Experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of gender mainstreaming projects in the humanitarian and development contexts
  • Previous work experience of EiEPC Grants Management, consortium collaboration and/or for a USAID grant is highly desirable
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Myanmar languages
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
  • Strong communication, networking, coordination, facilitation skills
  • Ability to deliver against demanding timelines
  • Proficient in training skills and design of innovative tools in gender equality
  • Computer skills, especially data visualization and creative reporting
  • Experience of working with women led organizations
